Dear Friends,
It is good to talk to you again. I hope this finds you all well. I have been well, except for having cataract surgery this past winter. The surgery was very successful, and I can see wonderfully at a distance. Unfortunately this has not helped my close vision, and my eyes tire easily, and reading is difficult when you tend to see double.
I believe that 2009 will be the last year for DOUTT DIALOGUES. There are several reasons that this is so. One is that, as I get older, I find I am slowing down. I simply don't have the energy that I once had. The problem with my eyesight is part of it, of course. Secondly, I seem to have run out of families to study. I dislike repeating myself. I feel that if I have previously covered a family, I shouldn't do it again. Thirdly, of course, is the economy. Expenses are going up rapidly, and probably none of us are keeping up. Some of you have been extremely generous with donations, both monitory and with information. Both are greatly appreciated. This is why I am setting a "finish date" as the end of the year 2009. Since this is the November 2008 issue, even though I am finishing it in April 2009, I expect and hope to continue with a full three issues of 2009. Please continue to send me information (obits, photographs, etc), because I will need them for the next three issues.
I plan to maintain my database and will still be available by e-mail and website. I simply will quit putting out the newsletter. I have made so many good friends, I could not bear to lose them. So I don't plan to "drop off the face of the earth", so to speak.
Please send me a note, and let me know what families you would like to see covered during the next issues. If you have information, photos, etc. to send me, that would be great. However, if not, I could just print what I have about them. Genealogy is about sharing, and that is what I have tried to do.
With warmest regards, Frances

In this issue, I am dealing with girls that I really know little about. I am presenting four ladies. My hope is that someone will be able to further our education about them. Basically the only documentation I have is census records for these families.

Several months ago, I asked who would prefer to receive the DOUTT DIALOGUES by Internet, rather than snail mail. Quite a few of you responded that they would prefer not to receive the paper copy, and I agreed to send those people an e-mail when it was up on my webpage.
I recorded those names, unfortunately on my computer. However, I had a major computer meltdown, and I can't find those names anyplace. What happened was that I decided to retire my HP computer, and carefully transferred all of the files unto an external hard drive. Once I was sure they were on the external drive, I took the files off of the HP. THEN, plugged in the external drive to another computer, and the external drive failed.
If those people who prefer to read DD on my webpage, rather than on a paper copy, would again let me know by e-mail, I would appreciate it. Thanks so much.
